A Similarity Evaluation Technique for Cooperative Problem Solving with a Group of Agents

1999

Evaluation of distance or similarity is very important in cooperative problem solving with a group of agents. Distance between problems is used by agents to recognize nearest solved problems for a new problem, distance between solutions is necessary to compare and evaluate the solutions made by different agents, and distance between agents is useful to evaluate weights of the agents to be able to integrate them by weighted voting. The goal of this paper is to develop a similarity evaluation technique to be used for cooperative problem solving with a group of agents. Virtual training environment used for this goal is represented by predicates that define relationships within three sets: prob…

Architecture of High Fidelity Simulation Tool for Crisis Management Training

2018

This paper addresses an ongoing project KriseSIM aiming at creating a virtual training tool for crisis management that should be realistic, flexible, scalable with highfidelity system architecture and user interface. Our goal is to accomplish high-level requirements developed through a codesign process with the crisis management stakeholders. In this paper, we describe a highfidelity training tool architecture, which follows the serious game design principles. The tool is designed as a resource management serious game genre, where the players will deal with limited resources and should respond based on various critical information flows. A preliminary result, i.e. the architecture and the t…

Do Not Cancel My Race with Cyber-Physical Systems

2014

Abstract To engineer the factory of the future the paper argues for a reference model that is not necessary restricted to the control component, but integrates the physical and human components as well. This is due to the real need to accommodate the latest achievements in factory automation where the human is not merely playing a simple and clear role inside the control-loop, but is becoming a composite factor in a highly automated system (“man in the mesh”). The concept is demonstrated by instantiating the anthropocentric cyber-physical reference architecture for smart factories (ACPA4SF) in a concrete case study that needs to accommodate the ongoing researches from the SmartFactory KL fa…

Co-design of a Virtual Training Tool with Emergency Management Stakeholders for Extreme Weather Response

2018

Emergency services usually prepare for the most frequent or predictable types of disasters, such as fires. However, preparation for complex, unpredictable disaster scenarios is infrequent, probably because of high resource demand and difficulty of covering dynamic training needs of multiple stakeholders. The use of serious game techniques as the core of simulated or virtual training tools opens for new ways of training and learning in emergency and crisis scenarios. However, the number of virtual training tools customized to specific disaster or crisis scenario that address needs of diverse user groups is limited. Existing tools are often tailored with a particular geographical setting and …

RIED. Revista iberoamericana de educación a distancia

2015

The Use of Online Training Tools in Competition Cyclists During COVID-19 Confinement in Spain

2021

COVID-19 confinement has supposed a challenge to the whole wide world, especially in athletes that have frustrated their expectations about training programs and competitions. Specifically, competition cyclists during confinement had lot of difficulties to train due to the need to train outside their homes. However, the increase of online training sessions, or virtual training tools could help to overcome training difficulties due to confinement although there are not studies that analyse the effects of using these types of tools in cyclists. This study aims to test how the use of online training tools in competition cyclists during confinement is related to training frequency and duration,…
